Event Type: Hybrid Event, 2 Team Members

Short Description: Participants will be assessed on their understanding and evaluation of freshwater aquatic environments.

Materials: 2 calculators, cheat sheet, built salinometer/hydrometer, goggles

General Overview:

• Part 1: Freshwater Ecology- Topics such as aquatic ecology, water cycle, population dynamics, harmful species, etc.

• Part 2: Freshwater Macroinvertebrates- Identify and know basic information about a list of these organisms

• Part 3: Water Monitoring & Analysis- Understand data relating to pH, salinity, etc.

• Part 4: Salinometer Testing- Estimate percent salinity to a tenth or a percent.
