Rocks and Minerals

Event Type: Study Event, 2 Team Members

Short Description: Teams will identify and classify rocks and minerals and demonstrate knowledge of how rocks and minerals help to understand geologic processes, interpretation of Earth’s history, the development of natural resources, and use by society.

Materials: Magnifying glass, binder, field guide, etc.

General Overview:

• Task oriented activities like identifying rocks and minerals (around ⅓-½ of test)

• Questions about rocks, minerals, and their properties, like chemical composition, methods of formation, understanding sedimentary/metamorphic/igneous rocks, importance of rocks, etc.
