TESTS/RESOURCES

Event Type: Study Event, 2 Team Members

Short Description: Participants will use remote sensing imagery, data, and computational process skills to complete tasks related to climate change processes in the Earth system.

Materials: 1 binder, 2 each of calculators, protractors, and rulers

General Overview:

  • Collection of remote sensing data to observe and study climate change processes

  • Part 1: Instrumentation & Physics- radar, spectroscopy, imaging, etc.

  • Part 2: Interpret Images & Datasets from listed satellites- optical, infrared, radar imaging, sea level rise & surface waves, temperatures, etc.

  • Part 3: Climate processes- Like greenhouse gases, el nino, carbon cycle, effects of climate change.

  • Part 4: Energy balance model & climate change- effects of atmospheric & surface conditions, blackbody radiation, heating & cooling, etc.
