Short Description: Participants will use their investigative skills in the scientific study of disease, injury, health, and disability in populations or groups of people.

Materials: 2 calculators, 1 cheat sheet

General Overview:

• Background & Surveillance- Health of individuals vs health of populations, history of epidemiology, how it is useful, causes of disease, surveillance in identifying health problems

• Outbreak Investigation- Investigate case scenarios, like experimental studies, interpret various charts and graphs, recognize factors in play, etc.

• Patterns, Control, and Prevention- Identify trends in data, calculate risk, understand strategies for prevention and control.
