Event Type: Study Event, 2 Team Members

Short Description: Teams will demonstrate an understanding of Stellar Evolution From Formation to Destruction.

Materials: 2 Binders or Laptops, 2 Calculators

General Overview:

  • Will use electronic programs, diagrams, charts, graphs, and equations to answer questions about various topics.

  • Stellar Evolution: Life cycle of stars, different properties of stars (ex. Luminosity, spectral features), variables, nebulas, neutron stars, pulsars, supernovas, etc.

  • Math: use math to find various properties (like distances and sizes) of stars, like orbital mechanics, kepler’s laws, parallax, etc.

  • Designated Space Objects: Specifically dive deep into Helix Nebula, Sharpless 29, Ophion Star Family, HP Tau, and various other celestial objects.
